About Thanooshka
As someone who is training to become a Science Teacher at UCL, which has been ranked the best institution in the world for Education over the past decade, I have understood that being an educator is not just about being able to help students memorise content but rather inspiring students to be curious and ask questions about what they are studying to expand their knowledge and facilitate their understanding.
I have always been a person who believes in smart work over hard work. You will often hear people say work hard and you will do well in life but what is the point of working hard if you are not working smartly to utilise the opportunities you have?
Through my online lessons, I would love to show students how they can study smarter and ace those exams that they have been dreading. I am good at adapting my teaching methods to suit every student's needs by analysing their strengths and weaknesses. I can explain difficult concepts in a simple manner which is easier to understand, enabling students to easily apply these concepts to any given problem in the exams. Having done three facilitating subjects which are content-heavy for A-level and graduating with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, I know how to condense the learning material leaving only key points which are easier to learn and understand. Thus through my online lessons, I will show students the tools and techniques they can use to work smarter instead of harder to achieve great results with lower effort.

Students will be given a diagnostic assessment to complete during their first online lesson to help me understand what their strengths and weaknesses are.
Upon completing the diagnostic assessment, I will start to tutor students using the specification as guidelines to ensure that they are being taught everything that is examinable. The lessons will be interactive as it is proven by research that student engagement is directly linked to motivation and progress. The lesson will be a mixture of me teaching for the first few minutes, then recapping what has been taught by asking the students viva-type questions or role reversal where the student will take on the role of the teacher and summarise what they have learnt. We will then finish the lesson with exam questions and I will also provide concise model answers.
At the end of every topic, I will prepare mini-assessments for the students to assess their exam techniques as well as their subject knowledge in that particular topic. Through my online lessons, I will also highlight the importance of having good exam techniques since a component of acing exams depends on the individual's exam techniques and not just their subject knowledge.
Duration of lessons: 55 minutes (teaching and exam question practice) + 5 minutes feedback
