About Sophie

I am a highly motivated Year 12 student currently studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Economics at A-Level (predicted 4 A*s). Alongside my current studies, I am an aspiring Physics applicant for Oxford University, which means I spend much of my time focused on problem-solving, advanced logic, and analytical thinking. Outside of my schoolwork, I enjoy playing badminton and reading!

I have always had a strong passion for academics, achieving 12 Grade 9s in my GCSEs last year. I wanted to start tutoring because I genuinely love supporting other people and helping them reach their goals. As a tutor, I look forward to bringing that same dedication, organisation, and patience to our lessons!

About the lesson

Since I completed my GCSEs last year, the entire curriculum and current exam layouts are fresh in my mind. I completely understand the academic expectations and pressure of preparing for these papers, which allows me to share the exact revision methods and exam techniques that lead to top marks!

I have done peer mentoring at my school, and so have plenty of experience that has helped me develop a patient, encouraging approach to breaking down complex topics and building up a student's confidence when they encounter challenging concepts.

My teaching style is practical and highly interactive. I believe that the most effective way to master mathematics is through active problem-solving! Our sessions will focus heavily on working through practice questions and exam style problems together, which is an excellent way to identify any weak spots and systematically resolve them.

Every lesson is fully tailored to individual needs, and we can adjust our focus depending on what is most helpful:

Reviewing past topics to plug any gaps in core knowledge.

Working through current material from school or homework that is proving difficult.

Getting ahead by covering upcoming topics early so that school lessons feel straightforward.

Lessons are typically one hour long and conducted online. I look forward to helping students build their skills and achieve their target grades in GCSE Maths!
