About Eduardo

I have always been a curious person who loves to be learning all the time whilst at the same time having struggled at certain points during my studies which means I can understand tutees in a wide variety of situations- whether they want help with some weak areas or really want to maximise their grades and push themselves to their limits.

During my time at the University of Southampton where I study Electrical and Electronic Engineering, I have also been part of several societies. One of which was a global organisation called Enactus which is about Social Enterprise where I learnt that I really love seeing others succeed, especially when they overcome self-imposed limitations and become more self-confident in the process. This is why I take a personal interest in my tutees and want them to achieve their true potential.

I have always been a big believer that you do not fully understand something until you can explain it in very simple terms and this is something I have been applying to my learning for quite a long-time. I have also used this during an internship at a big Engineering company when trying to understand a topic that was completely new to me.

About the lesson

My sessions are very flexible, I focus on whatever learning style is most effective for the tutee. If they are not aware of which one, then we can experiment and find out. In general, wherever you want to place the focus of the sessions is what matters. This applies both to the content and the structure of the session. By helping you identify your strengths and weaknesses, we can strategically work on any areas that will either improve their grades by the most amount or boost their understanding by the most, depending on the objectives we decide on at the outset.

I do however believe in two core pillars of learning and understanding which are: active recall and spaced repetition. There is plenty of research to back these up. These can be applied to a wide-range of subjects for instance: doing examples in order to explain concepts rather than abstract definitions and formulae, doing practice questions and solving problems in order to apply newly-acquired knowledge and re-visiting content often in order to consolidate learning.

To get the absolute most out of the session, you tell me what you want to cover in the session both content and how you want to address it eg. explanations, examples, problems.
