About Jake

I am a former College Lecturer for a vocational college, specialising in Maths, Physics and Outdoor Adventure. I aim to provide an engaging and often alternative approach to learning, based in my wider experience with learners of all abilities. I aim to build confidence in all students, allowing them to overcome any barriers to fulfilling their own potential, no matter their prior ability in a given area.

I am deeply conscious and considerate of any individual learner needs or requirements, such as ADHD, ASD, dyslexia/dyscalculia, behavioural and mental health difficulties, with a focus on creating a safe and enriching space for students to grow and achieve their goals.

I am exciting, dynamic and engaging with my delivery, reinforced with a deep passion and knowledge for the subject, with an emphasis on active student engagement as well as providing a contextual understanding.

I believe that money should never be a barrier to any student's learning and this is reflected in how I have chosen to price my lessons. If you would like to do any lessons with me but are worried about being able to afford the costs then please send me a message anyway and I am more than happy to arrange something which can work for you. I am extremely aware of how difficult the cost of living is for the majority of people so I would like to do anything I can to help people with their education, as in my view money should never be a factor in that.

About the lesson

I offer tutoring which is flexible around learner needs, tailoring any lessons to an individual’s specific difficulties or requirements they have. I believe that this gives the highest likelihood of a student achieving the outcomes that they want. I am able to bring a wide variety of teaching experiences across multiple fields to help learners understand complex ideas in a way that is most suited to them. Taking a student centred approach is a key feature of any tutoring I provide.

I have taught Maths at abilities ranging from Entry level functional skills to A-level Maths, giving me the ability to engage and improve outcomes for students of all levels of attainment.

I have a deep passion for teaching and achieving whatever outcomes a person comes to me aiming for, delivered in a friendly and relatable manner.

Perfect! Jake is an amazing teacher who extremely helped my dsughters confidence in Physics and Maths for GCSEs. She loved his lessons the best and they were really enjoyable. Topics were explained clearly with a deeper understanding. I would highly recommend Jake as a tutor.

Perfect! I asked Jake to coach my daughter because he sounded very professional and skilled at building rapport. We have not been disappointed, with Jake’s help my daughter has changed her outlook towards maths. Jake has helped to plug the gaps in her knowledge so she is now more confident and able to complete all aspects of the GCSE papers. I think Jake has made the positive difference in my daughter that 5 years of school was unable to do. We are very grateful for his commitment and patience. He has gone above and beyond to accommodate us and I can’t Recommend him highly enough.

I have been tutored by Jake for around 3 months and I can confidently say that the input and teaching he has supplied me with had been more successful than in school. His tuition makes me feel both mentally assured and physically capable of tackling the maths I previously opposed due to his enthusiasm and patience! After having sat all 3 of my GCSE maths papers with his tuition I’ve never felt so proud of myself.
