About Derek

Hi, I’m Derek and I was born and raised in London and was fortunate enough to experience great success at school due to the amazing and unforgettable teachers. During my A-level studies, I started to tutor some of my classmates and found explaining difficult concepts not only straightforward but also a very rewarding experience. Since then I have tutored multiple students aged between 8-18 and guided them to undertake a variety of exams including top marks fo 11+/13+ entrance exams, IGCSE Maths and A-Level mathematcis. This forms the foundation of my commitment and teaching principle in realising student’s potential, whatever their abilities may be.

I have a deep and extensive knowledge of Mathematics where I am in the third year of my Economics course at University College London.I achieved an A* at A-level Mathematics and an A in Further Mathematics, specialising in Statistics and Pure Mathematics. I also obtained an A* at GCSE Mathematics and an A in an Additional Mathematics qualification at aged 16. I also achieved A in Economics and Physics at A-level and subsequently achieved A*/A/A/A. At GCSE level, I achieved 9A* and an A(highest mark in the year) in an Additional Maths qualification.

Whether it’s helping students to ace their exams to exploring advanced concepts to prepare them for A-level and university, I am happy and confident to tutor any pupil to GCSE level.

About the lesson

I'm happy to offer any Maths and Economics tutoring up to GCSE level. Having been a private tutor for several years, before taking on a student, I would assess the student's ability and devise a personalised plan with the student to achieve their specific goal is. Whether it's a top score for an entrance exam or pushing students to more advanced concepts and achieving A* for additional maths.

I will tailor my teaching approach to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student.

I also have a range of resources, from personal worked examples, to problem set sheets, to exam guides.

Additionally, I have a very flexible schedule so parents can have the freedom to choose tutoring hours that suits their child.
