About Sandy
I am a qualified female English teacher at a secondary school in north London, with an up to date DBS. On a day to day basis, I teach years 7 to 13, covering content that ranges all the way from grammar, to analytical and creative essays. I am passionate, friendly, light hearted and approachable. I differentiate my approaches depending on who I’m teaching and try to work with my students as best I can to get the best results possible.
I’m passionate about English and really inject that passion into all of my students. Struggling with English? It will become your favourite subject in absolutely no time.
My speciality is English and I am familiar with most texts studied at a primary and secondary school level. I work with students of all ages to get the best outcomes possible as well as communicating with teachers and parents so that my pupils can achieve their full potential.
Having previously worked to support SEN and EHCP students AND adults, as well as studying psychology at bachelors level, you can be assured and confident in my experience.

My approach to teaching follows Lemov and Rosenshines’ principles. The structure of a typical lesson will include:
1) A Do now for retrie
2) Model learning through guided instruction (I Do)
Partnered practice with scaffolds and guidance (we do)
Independent practice - (you do
3) Feedback on independent practice
This strategy has produced outstanding results across the board for all students.
I believe that all students, no matter how disadvantaged, are capable of achieving groundbreaking results.
I cater my approach according to the needs of each student. I have several years of experience working with SEN students, EHCP students, and students who have English as an additional language (EAL).
I am also able to help students achieve their full potential even if they are already working at an exceptional standard.
