About Shannon
I am an experienced tutor who specialises in English and helping students gain entrance to top UK schools. I hold a degree in Media Production from Southampton Solent University. I have also recently completed a 140 Hour TEFL Qualification, enabling me to teach English as a foreign language.
What's beneficial about one-to-one teaching is that I can try a variety of teaching techniques in order to work out the most effective strategies to help each particular pupil understand a topic.
During my lessons, I ensure that the student's mind is kept as active as possible. There is no lecturing or passive learning (this is ineffective and doesn't aid in memory retention), and I devise a sequence of questions that allows the student to arrive at the correct answer, rather than just being given it.
I am fastidious in my lesson planning and execution, always ensuring that the materials are guaranteed to enhance a pupil's learning.
