About Heather
I have always loved being a teacher, and have played many roles - English teacher, Librarian, Guidance Counselor, Co-operative Education teacher, and Student Success teacher. I know there are many ways to reach your goals, and that not all students fit into the traditional "classroom" approach to learning. I find the right balance of challenging you to increase your skills, while also recognizing that learning can be frustrating. It is YOUR motivation that I focus on - YOU are the one who wants to get from Point A to Point B. I help by showing you possible pathways for the journey. Once you build more confidence in your skills, this journey will become less daunting!

I get to know you as a student through conversation and short reading and writing samples. You tell me your goals and we work towards them together! My lessons are created based on your needs - I have an extensive toolbox to pull from. My specialty is tutoring students in grades 7 - 10, though I am very able to work with individuals up to first-year post-secondary. It's simply my preference to help students who still need many of the "nuts and bolts" of the reading, writing and oral communication process. I help you to see your success, to help you feel more comfortable and confident in your skills!
