About Nicholas
My name is Nick. My love of reading began when I was twelve years old when my father came home with a paperback copy of The Hobbit. Reading that book and then The Lord of the Rings began a love affair with reading that has lasted ever since. I still read them to my wife, my grandchildren, and to myself just for the sheer joy of the experience. Then in the early 2000s, my daughter brought home a new fantasy series for us to experience, and so we leapt into the world of Harry Potter. These types of stories with magic and heroism are my favorites, and they inspire me to further exploration. I also enjoy biographies and any other well-written, compelling text.
My wife and I celebrate our thirty-ninth anniversary this year. We have four daughters, three sons-in-law, and nine grandchildren. We love to travel. We love to just spend time together at home. I am a runner, a reader, and a complete movie addict.

Love is the reason I became a teacher. Throughout my life, I have wanted to inspire other people to be their very best. The thrill of someone else’s accomplishments has always given me the greatest joy. My entire philosophy starts with and is based upon creating an atmosphere of trust. Most intriguing to me is the interaction of a lively discussion about pertinent topics and notions that either are already part of or lead into essay writing and creative storytelling. While I will give grammatical suggestions and helps, I believe that honing a person’s ability to write what he or she thinks along with helping each person to organize and congeal his or her thoughts into cogent arguments is the most critical thing that I can teach.
