About Sia
Hello, I am a University of Toronto student currently pursuing a double major in English and Sociology. I have received multiple awards in essay writing and speech competitions, and I have extensive tutoring experience working with students of all ages, from kindergarten students to adults. I graduated high school as valedictorian with a 99% average, and I am especially confident in teaching humanities subjects.
I also completed teaching practicums at a TDSB elementary school and a YRDSB high school, which gave me a strong understanding of the Ontario curriculum and classroom expectations.
I offer one-on-one English tutoring for students from elementary to high school, focusing on overall skill development. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and combine speaking, essay writing, and discussion in a step-by-step approach to strengthen both verbal and written communication.

My English lessons are designed to develop well rounded communication skills across debate, speaking, writing, reading, listening, vocabulary, and grammar. Each lesson is carefully structured but flexible, allowing me to adapt to the student’s level, strengths, and goals.
For speaking and debate, students practice expressing opinions clearly, building logical arguments, and responding confidently to questions. Writing lessons focus on organization, clarity, and critical thinking, from sentence level accuracy to structured paragraphs and essays. In reading and listening, students learn active strategies such as identifying main ideas, analyzing tone, and making inferences.
Vocabulary and grammar are taught in context rather than memorization, helping students use new language naturally and accurately. Overall, my lessons emphasize confidence, academic skills, and real world communication.
