Teach first-year composition courses. Facilitate learning with an array of urban, culturally diverse, and underserved students in individual classrooms and group sessions in acquiring college-level writing and reading proficiency. Create syllabi on themes such as Literacy Education, Race and Culture, and Individual and Society. Develop activities and lesson plans, meet regularly with students, and grade all written work. Guide students in inquiry-based research and encourage them to see research as a task central to their daily lives. Instruct students on conducting primary and secondary research to critically evaluate the quality of sources. Evaluate students’ writings emphasizing skills transferrable to other courses and contexts in support of writing across the curriculum.
