About Roshan

I have experience of working with young children and adults but currently work in a Further Education College. Currently, I work as a Learner Support Assistant where I am responsible for working with learners with a learning difficulty. It proves more challenging then teaching a learner without one as these learners need tasks to be broken down in more manageable chucks. Work needs to be explained in more detail and you need to have a lot patience.
In my professional career I have been contracted at a FE college in London to teach Literacy from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. As well as these classes, I was also responsible for teaching AS and A2 Law classes. The age of the students ranged between fourteen to nineteen years. I was responsible for a total of seven different classes, all at different levels, backgrounds and ages. Working here meant that I had a duty to establish a commitment to adult and community education, along with an understanding of the implementation of equal opportunities within this context.
I have also worked in a sixth form college where I have taught English & Maths and Business Studies. Here I had a range of classes, anything from fifteen in a class to thirty. The students were mainly sixteen to eighteen years of age, and some were very challenging in behaviour.

About the lesson

I prepare sessions by taking into account different backgrounds, learning needs and complementing ‘learner profiles’. Resources are designed by myself to allow individuality. Colour, flash cards, smart board, role plays, audio tape and worksheets, in my opinion all aid student learning and ensured that all needs are met. Having a ‘student centred’ approach to teaching is really important to me. In my opinion, learners who are engaged and motivated in the classroom activities will achieve their level best.
My teaching experience along with my lesson observations have proved that my lesson plans and resources were successful. The lesson plans used show that numeracy, ICT and literacy were all embedded within one lesson plan to integrate Functional Skills within my specialism. My primary strengths as a teacher would be interesting classes, enthusiasm, organisation and having an open, productive student-teacher relationship.
