  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

I've always been someone who found the English language fascinating and tried a little extra hard in any classes that had to do with English. It was more of an interest than anything until I realized that I wanted to work towards a Bachelor's degree in education, and majoring in English in university seemed to be the best next step in that process. Since making that decision, I haven't looked back.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

Being able to communicate exactly what you're thinking in a given moment to anyone who speaks the same language as you is such a powerful tool and one that I try hard not to take for granted. We are social creatures and language is one of the most essential bridges we have to connect to each other and fulfil that desire we all have. Whether it's reading someone else's work, or beginning to create a piece of my own, there are few feelings I enjoy more than surrounding myself with written works and language.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

I tutor because I aspire to be a teacher, and this gives me a little snapshot of what I intend to fill the rest of my life with. I enjoy it because it's good practice for how best to help my students, it allows me to gain relevant work experience, and it keeps me connected to the everchanging English curriculums that are present in schools. I would say I'm a "Superprof" simply because I care. I will put in the extra work that's needed for a student to grasp the concept. The extra mile is important.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Currently, my role model would be Socrates. He decided to ask the questions that he wanted to ask, and he chased the answers, even when his life depended on it. His desire for knowledge precedes him. It is fairly inspiring to hear of a man who would go to the lengths that a Socrates would go to solely for the sake of learning something else about the world he lived in, or even more simply, just something about his place in that world.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success are understanding the assignment and doing everything in one's power to meet the needs of the task. One might not understand all of the ins and outs of a given concept or field of study, but as long as one has a grasp on what is expected of them, any task can become much more simplistic than it otherwise would be. It's easy to become clouded by all of the information given to us at all times, but especially in school, focusing on what has been placed in front of you will always make your work easier, and will likely increase the quality as well.
