About Annabelle
I am a third-year student in the English (Literary Studies) program at Vanderbilt University, located in Nashville, TN, United States. Last spring, I was a Buchanan Library Fellow at Vanderbilt, where I used literature and data science to analyze the colonial lexicon of 18th-century Great Britain. Currently, I am working toward an Honors thesis, and after graduation I plan to pursue a PhD in English Literature with a focus on Postcolonial Literature and/or Critical Theory.

I am looking to work with high schoolers and college underclassmen who want to better shape the ideas behind their writing (whether it be academic or creative) and to refine their writing skills technically. As an advanced student in the Literary Studies program at Vanderbilt, I am best equipped to help you through the writing process with regard to specific assignments. My goal is to work within your teacher/professor's guidelines and put your ideas to the paper in the most straightforward, persuasive manner possible.
A typical lesson with me will go something like this:
1. You send your work to me prior to the lesson (either within a couple days or hours of it), and I will prepare feedback for the lesson.
2. At the beginning of the lesson, we will go over the assignment, its guidelines, and your personal goals (what you would like to say, how you would like to say it, and the grade you would like to receive). This is a collaborative process! My job is to help you articulate your best self on the page.
3. We go through my suggested revisions and work through any weak points in ideas, structure, or logic. You can also bring specific questions, about either the writing process or your own argumentation, which you would like to be answered.
Ultimately, I hope my lessons will inspire rigorous thinking, but I never want our lessons to be intimidating or demeaning. Learning is a process which we undergo together, and I can't wait to help you along with the writing life!
