About Helen
Student at Aberystwyth University (first year) studying english literature. I managed to obtain a scholarship to attend my chosen university by taking 2 english based entrance exams. The results being 75% in English Literature and 77% in Creative Writing. English Language and literature A levels (results yet to be confirmed due to circumstance). I achieved A/A*s in all of my essay based subjects at GCSE, including english language and literature. Volunteered as a young leader for 2 years with children aged 5-8 and was on a mentor programme with year 7 pupils where I tried to help them build their confidence and adjust to the change of moving into high school. My experience in the performing arts means I am good at public speaking and am hoping that adds to my ability to communicate and teach effectively.

I approach each topic by establishing an understanding of the child’s level, using prompts and examples to push them to create.An initial lesson will be required for me to gage that and to figure out whether my teaching style fits with the needs of the pupil. I attempt to tailor the lessons to the pupils which is why I usually don’t teach groups. I will mostly likely use visual aids and attempt to make it engaging through that.
