About Vicki
Hi, I’m Vicki! I’m a Montreal-based English Literature and Creative Writing graduate with over 10 years of experience in fiction writing and film production (assistant directing). I’ve been published in literary journals and have received several artist grants for my writing. Over the past several years, I’ve taught English to teens and adults, both one-on-one and in small groups. Whether you want to speak confidently, refine your writing, or explore literary expression, I’ll guide you through a supportive and personalized learning journey. :)

I like to personalize lessons for each student because I understand that learning isn't always linear. Some people learn through conversation, others through structured games, and most through a mix of both. My goal with every student is to build a strong verbal foundation that leads to real confidence in expression, spoken and written.
This is how my tailored lessons progress:
1. We begin with topics you're genuinely interested in, like books, culture, film, current events, and build out relevant vocabulary and sentence structures.
2. From there, we move into communicating your own ideas and opinions with increasing confidence. The goal is for you to feel comfortable expressing yourself clearly in everyday conversations, academic settings, or the workplace before we shift to writing.
3. Finally, we advance from language foundations to nuance, working step-by-step, from written grammar and vocabulary to more advanced syntax, tone, critical thinking, and polished writing.
Interactive tools we will use: storytelling, news and media analysis (film clips, articles), grammar and syntax drills, structured discussion, and creative writing exercises.
