About James

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been tutoring English Language and Literature for 15 years, beginning whilst I was studying English Literature at university.

Alongside teaching privately, I also work as a creative copywriter and features writer. I've had plenty of articles published and have written speeches for many a CEO, and one or two public figures.

I'm also a musician and I released my debut album in April 2023 - please feel free to get in touch if you or children play guitar and are interested in songwriting lessons.

A Levels - English Literature (A), Law (A), Psychology (B)

£45 per hour

- Where do you teach?

Now teaching online & locally to Sutton, Surrey

- When are you available?

Weekdays after school and weekends.

GCSE & A Level - students in Year 9 and above.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

GCSE, A Level and university.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I am happy to arrange online lessons via Zoom and will always be available via email / phone to provide additional support and answer any questions.

I provide students and parents with clear lesson plans and required reading for at least 2-3 weeks in advance (happy to adapt to student's individual needs).

I believe confidence is the key to all learning and progression within a subject, and the right mix of dedication and enthusiasm leads to consistently high results for my English students.

Delivering a fun, enjoyable and engaging learning experience is central to my teaching practice. After all, the English subjects are one of the few where your individual opinion is truly valued in terms of how you express yourself in coursework and exam papers - so I take great pride in teaching you key tricks of the literature trade, and encourage all students to express themselves confidently and coherently from both a verbal standpoint and via the written word.
