About Javiera
Although my love for teaching has hit peaks and valleys throughout my life, my love for tutoring has never waned. It is something I am still doing as a doctoral candidate and is something that I want to continue doing even after I graduate. I love working with people and providing individual, personalized support that is tailored to each person's needs and goals. I am here to help you! Even if you need someone to have a conversation with to get your thoughts out there before you start a project. I am here for whatever you need and together we can help each other (yes, each other!) become better writers, scholars, readers, or humans in general!

-I can put on any hat you want me to. I can help you brainstorm, outline, proofread, edit, and write your texts. I can also help you with reading comprehension, reading scholarly articles/writing, and can help with Spanish-English/English-Spanish translations.
-We will touch base at the beginning to identify the goals you have as a writer in general as well as the specific goals you have for the current session. We can work from 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the support you need.
-I am a doctoral student in English and have a total of 11 years experience in tutoring and 6 years of experience teaching. Most of my tutoring experience is with English language learners at a commuter college, meaning most of the students I worked with were non-traditional students. I am bilingual and work in early modern texts, meaning that I can help you with those obscure pieces you might need help deciphering!
-I can help you if you are a high school student, college student, graduate student, returning students, all the way to non-traditional learners. I have experience tutoring with each of these demographics. I can help you with reading, writing, rhetoric, composition, and pedagogy.
