About Cali

I am a Creative Writing and History student at Oregon State. I've been a writer throughout my life and have self-published throughout high school and college.

I make zines and write poetry, essays, and everything in between.

Teaching is my passion. I have 5+ years experience working with students of all ages (5-65) in a range of subjects, from sport coaching to science education to reading/writing tutoring.

I've been an assistant teacher in elementary and middle school classrooms in which I've gained invaluable experience. After I receive my degree, I'm going on to become a middle school teacher.

I am so excited to start this process with you and your student!

About the lesson

Students will be met with passion and patience when it comes to their learning. Together, we will work through essay writing with written brainstorms, individualized workshops, and editing practice. My philosophy centers around brevity, clarity, and rhythm.

Students will be able to write prose that flows well and makes sense. When it comes to reading comprehension, students can often feel defeated. Together, we can go through confusing passages, words, and motifs/themes.

I believe it is important for students to work through areas of confusion verbally, and note taking is expected. Every student is different. Lesson plans will vary depending on how the student learns and what they are studying.

Even though I'll be teaching new things, we are a team. Students will feel guided and supported both academically and emotionally throughout the learning process. I will strive to meet you where you're at, while also building an individualized curriculum that ensures your success.
