About Hunter
I am an honors student at College of DuPage, and plan to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in English after graduating next May. I received a Senior English Award in high school, have taken many honors courses in college, and have had one non-fiction research essay and another creative non-fiction essay published. I mention these achievements to highlight my versatility as a student of English, and my dedication to intellectual growth - a dedication which has motivated me to pursue teaching in the future.
Beyond my academic life, I am a trustworthy, easy going person and I can get along with anybody. I enjoy playing guitar and writing music in my free time, as well as studying philosophy, politics, history, and any other fields which help me make sense of the world around us. I am passionate about furthering our individual and collective literacy, curiosity, and critical thinking skills, and view education as a means of achieving these goals. My interest in tutoring is rooted in this passion, and I hope to leave my students with the same interest in learning that my past teachers have instilled into me.

I employ methods which focus on understanding in favor of memorization and emphasize the value in struggling through complex ideas. One of my strengths is in modeling sessions around the student's needs, interests and goals, and I strive to make difficult content become clear. I am able to teach a wide range of content for all students between K-12, and feel confident assisting college-level history, philosophy and English students as well.
