About Tiger

I'm a passionate and patient maths tutor with a strong academic background in engineering and several years of tutoring experience. I specialise in helping students from Key Stage 3 up to A-Level build confidence in their mathematical ability through clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and a calm, encouraging teaching style.

I understand that everyone learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit the student’s individual pace and learning style. Whether it’s revisiting the basics or tackling challenging exam questions, I focus on developing both skill and confidence.

Currently studying engineering at university, I achieved top grades in Maths and Further Maths at A-Level and have helped numerous students improve their grades, often significantly. My lessons are structured, engaging, and always aimed at making maths less stressful and more manageable.

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring:

Teaching Methodology:
I focus on building strong foundational understanding rather than just teaching formulae. I break down complex topics into simple steps and adapt my explanations based on how each student learns best — whether that’s visual, verbal, or through practice problems. I also encourage questions and aim to build the student’s confidence as well as ability.

Techniques I Use:
I combine worked examples with guided practice and regular mini-quizzes to check understanding. I use real-world analogies to make abstract maths more relatable, and I encourage students to explain concepts back to me — which helps deepen their understanding.

Lesson Length:
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, with time for review, new material, and practice. I sometimes offer shorter 30-minute focused sessions if students need targeted help before a test.

My Qualifications & Experience:
I’m currently a university student studying engineering, with strong A-level results in Maths and Further Maths. I’ve tutored students from GCSE and A-level over the past two years, both one-to-one and in small groups.

Who I Teach:
I primarily tutor GCSE and A-level students (ages 14–18), but I’ve also helped younger students build confidence in Key Stage 3 maths.
