About Krisha
For the longest time I have been someone who has had a loving yet challenging relationship with math. I have completed all math levels up to AP Calculus BC and International Baccalaureate HL Mathematics in addition to having experience volunteering at my schools after school math tutoring club helping students of all grades and math levels.
As satisfying as it was to see those pages of work finally produce a single answer, it once scared me to have to tackle those difficult problems.
However, after joining the robotics team in high school, I started gaining experiences looking at obstacles from different perspectives realizing that math can also be solved through different viewpoints. I started going back to the basic principles and tying them to the advanced formulas and concepts I had to learn in my classes. In the end I realized that even in math, an academic subject known to be black and white, is viewed differently by many people to help them solve problems in ways that aid their thinking processes the best. You don't always have to go by the book. The book is just a guide, your mind is the real power source.

A someone who has taken college level mathematics and beyond in high school, I understand the dramatic shifts students are forced to face in terms of math concepts and thinking processes.
My teaching method involves teaching students how to overcome math problems from a student's perspective. Rather than always going by the book, I like to look at things from from a more simplistic and understandable viewpoint that only students are able to understand. For example, trying not to use unnecessary big words and describing explanations by bringing in basic math principles to explain how more complex ones relate to the basics.
A typical lesson plan would probably start off with a general overview of the topic and how those mathematic concepts are used in the real world. Then I would start off with some example problems and after finding the answer, I would interpret and analyze it in a way that would help the student understand (aka explaining in a student-to-student perspective). That would be followed by giving the student practice problems where they have to explain their steps and thinking process to achieve their answer. Then they would have to interpret their answer in terms of the problem.
I know as supportive teachers can be, their way of teaching sometimes does not always click. As a recently graduated high school student, I aim to be able to teach students in a more creative way that will help of all ages from grades K-12 tackle math problems easily not because they will know how to solve them but because they will be able to analyze and explain WHY it must be solved in that way and how it has an impact on the context of the problem.
