About Kiara

I'm currently an Undergraduate student at Imperial College London studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I have previously completed my A-Levels and GCSEs in which I received exceptional grades. At A-Level I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Biology. I have been tutoring for 4 years now. Primarily, I have been helping GCSE, A-Level and 13+ (Maths) students. I wish to inspire and help students in the subject I'm teaching them as much as possible.

About the lesson

I have been tutoring children of all levels and ages, especially GCSE and A-Level for four years in Maths, Further Maths and Sciences. Along with this experience I have also received exceptional grades in A-level and GCSE. I believe that technique and knowledge are both very important for Maths and Sciences. My lesson and teaching style varies on the child as everyone learns best in a different way, making the lessons very adaptable. I have highlighted below one approach that I have found very useful with a few of my students. In a typical lesson, we start by doing a short recap of the previous lesson with questions. If there are some gaps in knowledge or a better way to solve the questions we also go over that. This can often be in the form of going over the homework from the previous week. After this, we start covering the basics of what that lesson's focus will be. We often do this using questions that increasingly get harder. Through these questions, we make sure the basics are solid and steadily build up both our knowledge of the topic but also continue to learn question technique which I've found is very helpful for quite a few of my students. After the lesson, I often will give homework concerning the topic that we covered during the session and sometimes from previous topics to keep them fresh. My lessons are usually 1 hour long for 1-2-1 classes. I'm currently also in the process of creating group classes for Year 9, 10 and 11 students.
