About Sumner
I have been tutoring for college-level physics classes for almost a year now, and I love teaching. I am patient; I am willing to meet a student wherever they are and walk through their study as slow and as simple as they need. I always maintain professionalism and respect, essential elements of a learning environment. I ensure that I am well-prepared for any teaching situation and if I don't have an immediate answer, I will search until I find one.
I have a passion for physics. As a mechanical engineer, I understand both the theory and the practical application of physics and mathematics, and it brings me great joy to share that understanding with others.

I approach tutoring with holistic understanding in mind. I believe it's important for my students to grasp the background, context, and application of the principles they are learning.
A typical lesson plan would consist of a few minutes of review, followed by a brief, succinct teaching of important equations and principles. Then, we practice. Physics and math are best learning through examples and repeated practice.
My lessons are for middle-school to high-school and early college students. I specialize in physics, but I also teach math.
I love helping people understand even the most tricky problems. I believe it's not just about completing a task, but learning something new. I would love to share my knowledge with you!
