About Alex
I am a student at Kent university studying electronic engineering with communications. The course involves a lot of maths and physics and I am very well qualified to teach mathematics to younger students who are seeking help. I achieved a distinction in my first year, and have grown up teaching maths to my younger sister to help her pass her exams and get the grades she was after. I have a friendly demeanor, am very patient and have a passion for mathematics.

Mathematics is fairly unique as a subject when it comes to how it can be taught/learned. Unlike English for example, Maths has (usually) only one correct answer to a given question, and there are techniques and methods that need to be learned in order to tackle questions.
This, for a teacher (in my opinion), makes it a straightforward subject to teach. When helping someone with their maths questions, I 'teach the same way that I learn'. First, I will outline the question and what it wants you to do. Next, I explain the method needed to come to an answer, followed by showing an example. Then we would go through a question together and hopefully the student will be able to answer subsequent questions with no help, which is good practice and will help cement the techniques they will have just learned.
It is a step-by-step subject, which is ideal for teaching students who may struggle with maths, as each step in a problem can be revised and explained before moving on.
