About Like

My name is Like, but you can call me Linda Wang. I want to take a moment to introduce myself and share with you why I believe I would make a great tutor. Let's dive right in!

I originally hail from mainland China and came to Australia when I was in Year 2. Moving to a new country at such a young age was quite a challenge, primarily due to the language barrier. I remember struggling to understand every single word people said, and it was my two friends from primary school who became my lifelines. They would patiently explain to me what we were doing, what the teacher said, and even how to play different activities. They were like my personal translators, and I will forever be grateful for their help.

However, not being able to communicate directly with those around me made me feel isolated and hindered my ability to express myself. I was shy about sharing my feelings because I couldn't articulate them clearly with the limited vocabulary I knew. I was also self-conscious about my accent, which further added to my apprehension.

But things began to change during my high school years. The new environment allowed me to discover another side of myself. I became more outgoing, developing an extroverted personality. I started making friends with people from different nations, and it was during this time that I realised how similar we all are. We shared favorite songs, enjoyed the same types of food, and despite our different backgrounds, we found common ground.

This realisation led me to develop a genuine curiosity about other cultures. After spending so much time together, I discovered the beauty of understanding and how it allows beliefs, cultures, and values to spread. It opened up a whole new world to me, and I became eager to learn more about the people around me.

So, what makes me an exceptional tutor? Well, I believe it stems from my own experiences. I've been fortunate enough to have had friends who supported and helped me when I was in a situation where I needed assistance. They provided hope and emotional support, and I am immensely grateful for their presence in my life. Now, I want to be one of those people for others.

I genuinely enjoy helping others, just like my friends helped the Year 2 version of me who first arrived in Australia. I understand the significance of having someone there to support you and lend a helping hand when it's needed the most. I want to be that person for others, providing not only academic guidance but also a sense of hope and mental support.

In conclusion, my background and personal experiences have shaped me into the person I am today. They have instilled in me a passion for connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and a desire to make a positive impact. As a tutor, I aim to not only help students academically but also inspire them to embrace different cultures and foster understanding in our beautifully diverse world.

About the lesson

-in my class I'm more concern of your attitude, as if you want to improve you are the only one who can push you forward. Homework is a must finish work. I'll be there when you need any help.

-During class, I'll need to know your math level and the help you need.
- lesson length:
for under year 9, our lesson will be one hour
years between 9 and 12, our lesson will be two hour
Students can alway reach out to me about the lesson length.

-I have been tutoring in a tutoring centre for one year on general mathematics, I have taught year 4,5,6 and year 7. As an online teacher, I have taught year 5 english, year 9 and 10 mathematics in the state of NSW.
