About Christina
"I am an experienced and dedicated English tutor, with a passion for helping students excel in their studies. I recently completed my 4th year teaching high school English and have just completed my MA in Educational Technology. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Azusa Pacific University and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from San Diego State University.
Most recently, I taught 9th and 10th grade English at Edgewood High School in West Covina, where my curriculum focused on literature and writing while implementing the Common Core State Standards. Before that, I taught at John Muir High School in Pasadena where I was an integral member of the Arts, Media, and Entertainment Academy. I have been able to grow and contribute tremendously as an educator during my time spent at John Muir. I taught various classes including 10th grade English, ELD, and a CAHSEE preparatory class. Additionally, I also taught credit recovery classes for upperclassmen and was an essential part of the academy leadership team.

My teaching method and techniques:
I use a variety of teaching methods and techniques to ensure that each student is engaged and able to learn effectively. I focus on using a student-centered approach, where I tailor my teaching to the individual needs and learning styles of each student. I use a combination of direct instruction, interactive activities, and independent practice to help students achieve their academic goals.
A typical lesson plan would involve an initial assessment of the student's current knowledge and skills in the subject area. Then, I would present new material and explain key concepts using clear and concise language. I would then engage the students in interactive activities and discussions to help them apply what they have learned. Finally, I would provide independent practice and assign homework to reinforce the material covered in the lesson.

My strong qualifications in English Language Arts and Language Arts, including my Masters of Arts in Educational Technology and Bachelors of Arts degree in English from Azusa Pacific University and Single Subject Teaching Credential in English from San Diego State University and my six years of teaching experience in high school setting, sets me apart as a tutor. Additionally, my passion for helping students succeed and my ability to adapt to the individual needs of each student makes me an effective and dedicated tutor.
The lessons are for children ranging from 6th grade to high school who are looking to improve their writing and reading comprehension skills in English Language Arts and Language Arts.
