About Laura
I was an elementary school teacher for 30 years. For a good part of that time, I worked for 10 and 12 year olds, the best employers on the planet! Children are the most inspirational people I know. One of the mantras that we used in our classroom was: We are all W.H.I.P.'s - works happily in progress! My students become successful writers and lifelong readers.

Unless work is predetermined by a classroom teacher, my students are the guide to their reading and writing journeys. We collaborate on which books to read and what topics to write about. I read along with them, highlighting text structure, literary devices, grammar, usage, and mechanics. My students are typically in grades 1 through 8. They may be regular education students, or have a 504 or an IEP.
