About Sydney

Hi there! My name is Sydney. I am 25 years old. I grew up in rural Wisconsin. I went to college at the University of Dubuque in Iowa. I played for the basketball team my freshman year. I double majored in Biology and Chemistry. I am especially passionate about genetics and molecular biology. I moved south with my boyfriend two years ago. Around the same time I started working as a laboratory technician in a Molecular Biology lab. We perform DNA extraction on patient samples in order to run Polymerase Chain Reaction, which can diagnose a multitude of different pathogens. Our company played a huge role in Covid-19 testing during the pandemic! I am so glad to have a job that I can provide people with an accurate and timely diagnosis, so that they can heal faster. If I didn't have people in my life who were passionate about science and willing to share that passion with me early on, I would never be where I am today! I am hoping that I could provide that same learning and passion to someone else.

About the lesson

I employ a student-centric approach, tailoring my methods to individual learning styles. I will help students build a solid foundation by reviewing and making sure they fully understand concepts before moving on to new topics. I want to help students identify their learning styles and aide their understanding in math and science subjects that are difficult for them. I prioritize building a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Beyond covering the curriculum, I focus on developing critical thinking skills and a genuine passion for the subject matter. I am adaptable and patient, ensuring that students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification. My tutoring services cater to middle school, high school, and college students seeking assistance in mathematics and science. Whether preparing for exams, tackling homework, or aiming for advanced understanding, my lessons are designed to meet the specific needs of each student. I am a recent college grad with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. I work in a molecular diagnostic lab. I would love to help other students to learn about the subjects I was most passionate about in school, and what lead me into my career!
