About Marc

I’m a passionate, fully qualified table tennis coach with over 30 years’ experience. I started coaching at 16, and since then I’ve developed players from beginner level all the way to England international standard. As a former England top-100 player and multiple league champion, I understand how to help players progress at every stage. Coaching is not just my profession – it’s something I’ve lived and loved for decades.

About the lesson

I’ve been coaching for over 30 years, developing players from complete beginners to international level. My lessons are structured, enjoyable and tailored to each player’s goals – whether it’s building confidence, improving technique, or preparing for high-level competition. Sessions are typically 60 minutes and combine drills, matchplay, tactics, and mindset coaching. I’m a fully qualified coach and former England top-100 player, and currently coach in the Sussex Junior Performance Squads. I welcome players of all ages and abilities who want to progress and enjoy the game.

Perfect! I had my first 1-to-1 table tennis session with Marc and it was genuinely one of the most enjoyable and comfortable coaching experiences I’ve had.

Marc has a very calm and reassuring presence, which immediately puts you at ease. He explains things clearly, never overwhelms you with too much information, and has a great sense of how far to push you without overworking you. The session felt very well paced and thoughtfully structured.

It’s also clear that Marc has a deep understanding of table tennis. His technical knowledge, eye for detail, and ability to spot small but important adjustments (especially around movement, timing, and body use) made a noticeable difference very quickly. What I appreciated most is that he focused on refining what I already do well, rather than trying to change everything at once.

On top of being an excellent coach, Marc is also a fantastic player himself, which shows in the quality of his demonstrations and the way he reads the game. He’s very approachable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping you improve.

I left the session feeling motivated, encouraged, and excited to continue training. I’m really looking forward to more coaching with Marc and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for high-quality, thoughtful table tennis coaching.

During the session, we focused on refining what he already does well, particularly around hip rotation, use of the non-playing arm, movement, and footwork. He was very open to feedback, quick to understand the adjustments, and able to apply them effectively during the session.

Ismail clearly has a lot of potential. He is already at a level where he could comfortably play in a local league environment, and I am confident that with continued coaching and regular match play, he could reach the top division of most local leagues within a relatively short period of time.
