About Justin

I am an educator and IT professional with a wide range of experience teaching including being a college professor as well as several years teaching in a self-contained elementary classroom, as well as substitute teaching all subjects at all grade levels. I am highly analytical internally and emphasize being highly personable in my presentation style to maximize accessibility and effectiveness in all my communications. I find children easy to work with because my knowledge of pop culture (e.g. superheroes, TikTok, etc.) makes it easy to connect with them, and find working with adults wonderful because I enjoy building critical thinking skills and empowering people with tools they can use to make a difference in their lives.

About the lesson

Using my empathetic and analytical style I evaluate the student's mental state on their academic progress and challenges, together with data I create the necessary lessons. This also serves as a time to build relationship with the student quickly to establish shared goals and basic buy in.

When the academic challenge is presented, it's presented as solved and I walk the student through an age-appropriate process to solve the problem, establishing the necessary rules and practices.

Then we work problems together, reviewing the rules and strategies, and I increasingly release more and more responsibility for the problems as we work through them.

Until, finally, I am observing the student working through the problems and fine tuning any oversights or lingering questions.
