About Nicole

Hello! I’m Nicole, a certified Alberta teacher with 21 years of classroom and tutoring experience, and a true passion for helping children build confidence in math. I hold both an Education degree from the University of Lethbridge and a degree in Mathematics and Science, and I’ve taught students from kindergarten all the way to high school.

Over the years, I’ve worked with countless learners of all abilities — struggling students, anxious learners, gifted students, and kids who simply need that one-on-one attention to help things “click.” I believe that every child can succeed in math with the right support, patience, and teaching approach. My lessons are clear, calm, step-by-step, and highly visual, using models, drawings, manipulatives, and real-life examples to make concepts understandable. I adapt each session to your child’s learning style, pace, and strengths, making sure they feel supported, encouraged, and capable.

As a mother of three boys myself, I understand how important it is for kids to feel safe, comfortable, and proud of their progress. My goal isn’t just to improve grades — it’s to help children develop strong foundations, confidence, and a growth mindset that will support them for years to come. I’ve taught both in-person and online, including a full year of online instruction during the Covid period, and I now tutor students privately and through online learning platforms. Whether your child needs help catching up, staying on track, or moving ahead, I am committed to helping them feel successful and confident in math.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Nicole — a certified Alberta teacher with 21 years of experience. I help young learners in Grades 1–6 build strong math foundations, develop confidence, and actually enjoy learning.
My teaching is warm, patient, structured, and full of visuals and real-life examples. Every lesson is personalized to your child’s exact needs and learning style.

What I Teach (Aligned to Alberta Curriculum) , however I can teach any curriculum, just ask :)

Grades 1–3: Early Math Foundations • Number sense & place value • Counting, skip counting, and building fluency • Addition & subtraction strategies • Making 10, doubles, mental math • Telling time, money skills, measurement • Introduction to fractions • Building confidence and problem-solving skills

Grades 4–6: Intermediate Math Skills • Multi-digit multiplication & division • Long division (multiple strategies) • Fractions (equivalent, comparing, operations) • Decimals (place value, operations, real-life use) • Percents introduction • Patterns, variables, expressions • Area, perimeter, volume, geometry • Data analysis & probability • Preparing for Grade 7 success

How I Teach My approach is: clear and step-by-step calm and encouraging visual and hands-on focused on understanding the “why,” not memorizing full of guided practice + feedback always adapted to your child I specialize in confidence building and helping kids move from “I can’t” to “I get this!”

The rate for this GROUP class is $45 per student because each lesson includes a full hands-on science lab, step-by-step guidance, and individualized support within a small group. I carefully plan every class, provide detailed material lists, model each part of the experiment, and explain the scientific concepts clearly and thoroughly. Hands-on science requires preparation, structured teaching, and real-time observation of students to ensure they are completing each step safely and correctly. With a maximum of 4–5 students per group, learners receive personal attention while still benefiting from discussion, collaboration, and shared discoveries. This format allows me to provide high-quality instruction that supports strong understanding, curiosity, and confidence in middle school science.
