About Kristy
I am a female teacher living in Ottawa. I studied second language teaching at Queens then moved overseas to Australia where I taught on and off for 2 years. I currently teach junior students in Ottawa. I try to incorporate fun or dynamism in my teaching when I can - my classroom has been set up in Harry Potter houses in previous years. Quizzes, kahoot, different reading styles, etc - I'm a believer in DELF and also working towards practical situations where you can use your french, so it is useful and pertinent.

Hi! I believe that when learning a second language, the content needs to be engaging and appropriate to your level. I like to mix the four strands as we would in class- listening exercises, reading passages, writing responses, and sharing opinions or ideas orally. Grammar is an essential component of French, but we try to find different ways to engage with this. I have mostly worked with the primary junior level but also taught grade 9 and 10 French in Ottawa.
