About Meg
My name is Meg, I am 20 years old, and I am an Elementary Education student at Baylor University.
I have lived in America all of my life and my first language is English. In high school I took four years of a child-development/teaching classes, and I spent part of my senior year in a local middle school helping teach English and Reading to gifted and talented students. This taught me many valuable lessons such as the importance of positive reinforcement, patience, and listening to what students are trying to express to you (maybe it is a struggle or success, but making sure you being attentive to that).
I have tutored for kids of all ages in a wide range of subjects, and if I am the right fit I'd love to help you too!

I first like to get a sense of where the student is at and what specifically they are struggling with. If it is an overall concept we will break it down step-by-step to find where the disconnect is. I like to reinforce what we just covered through practice problems and gauge understanding by having them "teach" it back to me. If they are learning to speak English, we will have conversations and I will teach using the SIOP model.
What sets me apart as a tutor is the experience I have, despite my age, and that if I do not know something I will be honest about it and do my best to learn it so I can teach you.
These lessons are for primarily younger grades, Pre-K through 8th. I can do high school level, however I do not have as much training in it. I can assist with proofreading essays and creative writing for high school students (these were my strong points) but for AP classes I would advise you find another tutor for that subject.
I am currently getting my certification in Methods of Teaching English as a Second Language, so if you are looking for an English tutor for that I can definitely help you.
