About Samantha

Teaching has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I strongly believe that education has the power to open doors to countless possibilities. Education has the power to break through generational cycles, pull a person out of poverty, and give the gift of dreaming big and accomplishing bigger things. In order to afford all students the same opportunities, we each have to recognize the diversity of students’ backgrounds and life experiences in our classrooms and teach accordingly. My own personal experience living as a foreigner, learning another language, and deepening relationships with many people who do not share my culture, language, or biases, has given me an even deeper desire to create a classroom and educational culture that is conducive to all students’ learning. Differentiating instruction to meet all learners is key. It would not be equitable to teach every student in the exact same way. In order for each student to reach their highest potential, I have to learn from them and understand what they need. It is important to know how each student learns best and to change teaching strategies and contexts to reach each student. It should not be a student’s job to meet the teacher’s culture or preferred manner of teaching, but rather the teacher’s job to meet each student where they are within their needs and their culture.

About the lesson

I am an engaging and hands on teacher. I believe that education opens doors to countless possibilities. All students learn differently and have different strengths and needs. It is my goal to get to know every student personally, assess their strengths, learning styles, and goals, and create lessons around you. These lessons are intended for students looking to learn more or get some extra practice in any math level up to algebra and geometry.

Perfect! Samantha is excellent! She tutored my 8th grader and actually turned him around to love Math! Yes! She set him for his upcoming testing, and covered all weakness areas, including new ground. She very thorough, consistent, and detailed. Honestly, it's as if she had been working with our son for years! If only every tutor had her approach. Let me add that I never do reviews for anything. This is my first review ever!
