About AjayKrishna

Hi, I’m Ajay. I really enjoy helping students build confidence in subjects that can sometimes feel frustrating or overwhelming. My aim is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems without feeling rushed or pressured.

I know that everyone learns at a different pace, so I try to be patient, approachable, and encouraging during lessons. Seeing students go from feeling stuck on a topic to understanding it and solving problems confidently is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring for me.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying active and playing sports. I regularly play football, basketball, and badminton, and also enjoy spending time outdoors. I find that having a balance between studying and staying active helps keep a clear mind and a positive mindset.

I enjoy connecting with students and helping them develop confidence, persistence, and strong problem-solving skills that will benefit them not only in school but in the future as well.

About the lesson

I have extensive experience teaching mathematics and related subjects. I worked at Kumon for four years teaching maths, tutored junior students at Auckland Grammar School in my final year of high school, and later became a self-employed tutor during university, helping students with maths, science, and physics.

I studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Auckland, a highly math-intensive degree, and achieved strong grades, particularly in mathematics-related courses. My lessons are suitable for high school students who want to improve their understanding, build problem-solving skills, and achieve better academic results.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than simply giving them answers. I use reinforcement and guided problem-solving so students learn how to think through problems independently. During lessons, I encourage students to explain their reasoning and work through questions step-by-step, which helps build confidence and deeper understanding.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are structured around the student’s current school topics, assignments, or exam preparation. I tailor each session to the student’s level and learning style, whether they need help strengthening fundamentals or tackling more challenging problems.
