I have a bachelor's in psychology from UNC at Chapel Hill but have been working as an instructor, Spanish tutor and volunteering as a translator for a year. I have experience in speaking Spanish in both the professional (office, court, home visits) and personal realms.

My method is based on coaching techniques. During my class we go over vocabulary and comprehension practice, but I always tell my students that their learning should expand during the week and not just be in our 1 hour weekly session! I encourage students to go out and talk to Spanish speakers, attend cultural events, go to a market, all to increase their skills daily. I try to teach both culture and language in my class so students have the skills to navigate learning through doing on their own.
