About Isaac
I graduated with a first in Economics at the University of Sussex. This degree allowed me to incorporate my enthusiasm for maths into everything I do. I find the concept of being able to apply mathematics to real life scenarios incredibly fascinating, and have found that my general problem-solving skills have grown largely since beginning my degree. Since maths has been a prominent subject throughout my life, I have found that while learning maths can be a rewarding experience at times, it can also be very challenging. I have prior experience in helping others with GCSEs, and have a strong understanding of the challenges students work through, as well as how to overcome these challenges. Because of this, I greatly enjoy supporting others through the hardships of maths, and helping them develop a sense of confidence in the ways they approach mathematic tasks. I love to have a positive impact on those I help by encouraging them throughout their learning process. This is a very gratifying experience for me, and I am sure that all of my students will show progression not just in their work, but also their confidence. One of my favourite things outside of academics is sports. My favourite sports are basketball, cricket, and football; which I love to sometimes apply to questions and tasks I create in order for students to feel more engaged and excited towards the work they do. I believe that people work best when their work involves the things they love.

All sessions will be tailored towards the student themselves, specifically their confidence, their ideal area of work, and exam techniques. Depending on the request, content can be completely new and taught for the first time, or extra help can be provided in regards to covering topics the student has previously been taught. Some examples for this would be; discussing theory, and taking students through examples of how to answer a range of mathematical questions. After this, I have the student attempt similar questions to demonstrate what knowledge they have acquired, and their method of application. Progress will be measured through the student's ability to answer questions in the lesson as well as some surprise tests on various topics. It is important to encourage learning in maths, as it is key to the enjoyment and understanding of the content. A lot of the content within maths seems daunting at first, but realistically it involves skills we are all confident with. The key to this breaking it up into digestible chunks. Many students unfortunately miss out on success due to taking maths at face value, so having this approach is very much important.

Isaac has an excellent ability to encourage and motivate others to maximise their potential. He shows a great care in helping others understand any challenges or problems they may particularly struggle with. He recognises that everyone learns differently, and will always accommodate for a person's specific needs. Isaac helped me earn a grade 6 for my Maths GCSE when I initially had a 5. I wanted a retake and he was very clear and supportive during teaching. He was great at communicating with me and is very professional when it comes to breaking down and explaining topics.
