About Sam
Hello! My name is Sam, I was born in Shanghai and came to the UK in 2014, when I was 12 years old. I have just finished my undergraduate in Economics with a First Class from the University of Manchester. I will be doing a Master’s in the same field at the LSE starting September 2024. During my undergraduate, I focused on the application of mathematical methods to the study of economics and finance. I established the Quantitative Finance Division at the Manchester Trading Society, and was the first head of division. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing football, food, books (specifically science, mathematics, and philosophy), and video games (PS5). I have also given a few lecture talks at my sixth form (New Hall School), I particularly enjoyed teaching them mathematical method for university level economics and economic models. I also helped them with their university applications

For mathematics, I can help students with a wide range of challenges, from understanding concepts to tackling unusual questions. During the lesson, I will find out the student’s strengths and weaknesses, and, depending on the curriculum, I will tailor the lessons as needed.
For economics, I can either tutor A-Level concepts, or I can give the students a comprehensive introduction to undergraduate level economics, including the mathematical techniques needed.
For Chinese, if the student has had experience with Chinese before, I will just chat with the student in Chinese as practice makes perfect. Otherwise, we can start from the very basics such as pinyin and basic writing.
