About Jon

I have recently tutored mathematics for:
- AQA GCSE – Higher
- Metalworking at George Brown College
- Pearson Edexcel GCSE – Foundation & Higher
- Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Specification A - Higher
- The AMC 8 test
- The EQAO exam for Canadian Grade 9
- The GRE (quantitative reasoning)

I have bachelor's degrees in Economics (Queen's University, Kingston) and Industrial Engineering (Ryerson University, Toronto). I completed University of California's short "Tutoring and Teaching Maths for Understanding" course on Coursera in March 2026.

I only teach online, as I live in the Canary Islands of Spain with my partner and our dog. I can often be found reading The Wheel of Time book series, when I am not baking bread or fixing things around the house.

About the lesson

In a typical lesson, students can expect us to work through practice problems and past exam questions together.

Whatever you want to learn, please correspond with me over messages before booking a lesson. Let me know specifically:
- in which curriculum (e.g. GCSE)
- where you're having issues (e.g. similar shapes, exponents, etc)

This way, I can make the most of our time together, and the sessions we have will be as useful to you as possible.

️If you are looking for IGCSE mathematics tutoring specifically, please send me:
- the exam board name (e.g. AQA, Oxford AQA, Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel, etc.)
- for Pearson Edexcel, whether it's Mathematics A (4MA1), B (4MB1), or modular (4WM)
- whether it's higher/extension or foundation/core level

^ this info is often on the front / back cover of the textbook or in the introduction.

My students have received tutoring while living in:
- Cyprus
- France
- The United Kingdom

Currently I do not tutor:
- AS Maths
- A-Level Maths

Boundaries and expectations:
️- If a lesson is currently in progress, I am not willing to reschedule it
- To make the most of our session, please join on a laptop or on a desktop if possible (it will allow us to make full use of screen-sharing).
