About Cheng-Wei
I earned my Ph.D from Duke University. I am currently a research scientist. I have experience in mentoring students in both Ph.D and Masters level. I also have experience in tutoring high school students for more than 6 years.
I have interacted with students and researchers from diverse disciplines and cultures at the undergraduate, professional masters, and PhD levels and have appreciation for the challenges and barriers underrepresented groups encounter in college life. My experience thus far suggests that demonstrating care about their life and thinking, and further showing interests to also learn from them are the key ingredient to create inclusive environment in the teaching processes.

I use analogy to common life to help student understand math and physics. I am well aware of the significance to develop a common language with students. The key to help student understand new concept is careful listening with patience to what they said and, more importantly, what they left unsaid.
