Early Years Foundation Stage Specialist - Early Years Education tutor with Jan

Jan is a very knowledgeable teacher with a proven track record of developing children’s writing, mathematics and reading. She has been teaching literacy in our school for a few years and excels in raising pupils outcomes, across the school

I am a qualified teacher and have worked with Jan for around 5 years teaching EYFS in the state sector, both as a teacher on her team and as a job-share for her class.

As the EYFS lead at our school, Jan has implemented a number of new ideas including new programmes for phonics and maths, which have contributed to improved results across the department. She is also very good at tailoring these programmes and her lessons to individual student needs, including supporting those who need more help as well as challenge individuals who are already doing well. She also has experience of working with and supporting children with additional needs. She has a real passion for learning and working with children and their parents to ensure every child has the best chance of maximising their potential.

In terms of interaction with parents, Jan has rolled out parent workshops and makes it a point to not only keep parents up to speed with their child’s development but also help parents understand what they can do at home to support their child’s learning. This means that learning does not stop in the specific lesson and children are able to apply what they have learned in their daily lives.

Jan has particular experience of teaching children in relation to communication and language, reading, writing and maths, and is the writing lead for our school.

Her passion for maximising student’s potential, combined with her patience and understand of children’s needs, makes her an excellent teacher.
