About Isabella
Hello, I am Isabella, a current English Literature student and English tutor at Durham. I am currently student representative for the Durham University English department, and have been president of Literary Society during my A levels at school. I was also awarded the REA English Literature prize in sixth form before leaving for my degree at Durham.
I have experience tutoring students one‑to‑one, and I’ve received positive feedback from parents who value my organised approach, my patience, and my ability to explain complex ideas in a way that feels accessible.

I have been tutoring for almost a year now, and have helped many of my students grow and become more confident with the subject.
What we spend time on in the session is mainly chosen by you, so it always feels the most useful whilst focusing on what you want to achieve. I keep lessons clear, focused, and engaging, with a mix of explanation, practice, and time for you to try things yourself.
Before each session, I plan activities based on your goals and what you need to work on. During the session, I aim to create a supportive and interactive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new ideas.
I also introduce simple and effective revision methods, such as active recall, practice questions, and breaking topics into smaller chunks, so you know how to revise independently outside of lessons. With a good revision method, anyone can achieve exam success!!
To help you reach your goals, I break things down into manageable steps and give regular feedback so you always know how you're doing and what to improve next. I track progress through regular check-ins, your work, and how confident and independent you become over time.
I believe learning works best when you feel comfortable, motivated, and supported, so I focus on building your confidence as well as your academic skills.
