About Roger

I am a first-year student at Durham University studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics, who is in need of some sort of extra income! Indeed too, I have chosen to focus on tutoring rather than other traditional jobs because I believe I can be an effective educator. Having grown up with two younger brothers for most of my life and undertaking various parenting roles, I take pride that I am able to connect with those seeking my guidance.

About the lesson

As someone who has just finished secondary education, I believe I am strongly in accord with teaching methods that are most appreciated and effective for students.

In preparation for my Politics A-level, where I achieved an A*, I worked in close contact with an ex-Edexcel Politics examiner and nailed extensive essay plans relevant to each specification bullet point. Therefore, I am confident that I have reached a high level of understanding of what is required to succeed in Politics. For this reason, I will only teach Edexcel Politics.

In particular, I aim to teach in direct relation to the relevant course specification provided by the exam board, to ensure 100% of the focus is on examinable content. All too often, I have worked with politics teachers that deviate from what is tested in the exam, wasting time and missing essentials.

I also place a strong emphasis on mastering essay structure, which is essential for success but often (bizarrely) glossed over by teachers.

Session duration and timings are via videolink and very flexible
