About Tom
I'm a recent graduate from the University of Nottingham but I'm from London. Ever since I was eight years old I've absolutely loved playing the drums and been privileged to play in some fantastic groups at some amazing venues such as the Camden Roundhouse and the Royal Festival Hall.
A huge part of why drumming is such a big part of my life is because of my teacher that I had when I was younger. I felt that I not only improved constantly under his teaching, but he also got the balance just right in terms of hard work as well as making sure I really enjoyed the lessons.
I'd love to be able to inspire any progressing drummers just as my teacher inspired me, and that is why I want to teach the drums.

Having undertaken drum lessons myself for 10 years, I know the importance of having a teacher who not only helps you progress but makes you really enjoy your drumming.
I can help students with all grade exams between grade 1 and grade 8 and can also teach students who are of that standard but not wanting to do grades and exams.
I'm 20 years old, and am happy to teach people of all ages. In my 40 minute lessons , we would start with a quick 2 minute warm up on the drum kit just to get the hands moving. After that we would move into the main part of the lesson, where we look at the pieces that the student is working on. In the final 5-10 minutes of the lesson we will take our attention away from the pieces that we have been working on and I will give the student something a little different to look at. This could be a song, a fill or even just a good beat - This is really great for diversifying your drumming, and is a nice bit of fun to end the lesson on. I'm also more than happy to provide any recommendations of what students can be getting on with between lessons so that students can further enhance their skills.
My main aim in teaching is to make drummers really enjoy their instrument, and I look forward to working with you!
