About Charna
Dusty cases and the smell of old pine floors define my history with the acoustic guitar. I spent 6 years traveling the American South to play old-time festivals before settling into this teaching role. My BA from UCLA helps me explain complex theory through the lens of simple, traditional blues progressions. I have worked with 244 students including working professionals and absolute beginners.
Reading sheet music is vital, but I prioritize ear training to keep your playing organic. Watching a student finally connect with a rhythm pattern makes all the years of touring worth it.

Your first meeting with me involves a diagnostic skills check to build a plan that fits your exact level. We start by assessing your current rhythm and maintenance knowledge before moving toward lead guitar techniques. My lessons focus on how power chords and strumming patterns create the foundation for good songwriting. I use my degree from UCLA to ensure you understand the mechanics behind the music.
Students preparing for grade exams often benefit from this structural clarity. You can count on a grounded, patient atmosphere throughout our work. This is how we build a player who understands the instrument from the inside out.
