About Jay

Hello! I’m a final-year Trainee Health Psychologist completing my Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology at Staffordshire University. I have extensive experience supporting learners at all stages of their academic journey, from A-Level students through to postgraduate and doctoral researchers.

I have been mentoring and supporting students for over five years, and I am passionate about helping people build confidence, develop their skills, and find their own approach to learning. I believe that patience, empathy, and encouragement are essential for creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and growing.

I also have experience supporting individuals with additional learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and learning disabilities. If you have specific learning preferences or require tailored support, please feel free to let me know so we can find an approach that works best for you.

I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals and feel more confident in your learning.

About the lesson

My lessons are all about finding what works best for you. Everyone learns differently, so I take time to understand your goals, what you’re finding challenging, and how you prefer to learn. Whether you need help understanding tricky psychology concepts, improving your academic writing, preparing for exams, developing research skills, or simply building confidence, we can work through it together.

I like to make lessons interactive and relaxed, rather than just talking at you. We’ll break down difficult ideas into smaller, more manageable pieces, use real-life examples to bring concepts to life, and explore ways to help the information stick. I can support you with understanding psychological theories, reading and interpreting research papers, structuring essays, developing critical thinking, and communicating your ideas clearly.

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, that’s how we learn. My aim is to help you find strategies that suit you, build your confidence, and make learning feel more enjoyable and achievable.
