About Lizzie
I’m Lizzie, an art historian trained in interdisciplinary medieval studies, and I want to teach because these subjects change how we look at the world, not just what we know about it. Whether we’re deciphering symbols in a cathedral, or spotting clues in the margins of a manuscript, art history and the medieval past help us think like detectives and storytellers at once. I want to teach across GCSE, A Level, and undergraduate learning because every stage is exciting for different reasons. At GCSE, it’s about discovering that art means something. At A Level, it’s about learning to argue why it matters. And at undergraduate level, it’s about gaining the confidence to challenge interpretations with evidence and imagination. I love helping students see that history isn’t flat, art isn’t silent, and their ideas, when refined and supported, are worth sharing :)

My approach to tutoring is supportive, structured, and curiosity-led. I tailor lessons to each student’s learning style, focusing on clear explanations, close analysis of visuals and text, and guided discussion to build confidence and critical thinking. Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes long, a format that allows depth while maintaining focus. I offer classes for students of all ages and levels, from school learners to undergraduates seeking stronger essay and research skills. I specialise in Art History and Medieval Studies, including visual culture, manuscript studies, and historical interpretation. I hold an MSt in Medieval Studies and a BA in Art History, and am currently undertaking my doctorate. I have experience tutoring students preparing for exams, essays, and university applications, helping them improve analytical writing, source comprehension, and academic independence.
