About Nihal

I’m Dr Nihal Afsheen, MBChB, a medical educator and biology tutor with extensive experience teaching students at both school and university level. I hold the role of an Academic Clinical Teacher and OSCE Examiner. I’m passionate about education, mentorship, and helping students reach their full potential. Teaching and learning are at the centre of my career, and I find real fulfilment in helping students build understanding, confidence, and curiosity.

I’m Dr Nihal Afsheen, MBChB, a medical educator and biology tutor with extensive experience teaching students at both school and university level. I'm a resident doctor and I work as an Academic Clinical Teacher and OSCE Examiner. I’m passionate about education, mentorship, and helping students reach their full potential. Teaching and learning are at the centre of my career, and I find real fulfilment in helping students build understanding, confidence, and curiosity. At the Liverpool School of Medicine, I deliver formal teaching for Year 1–4 medical students in anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, communication skills, and clinical medicine. I’m also completing a Master’s in Medical Education, which strengthens my evidence-based, student-focused approach to teaching. As a medical educator and OSCE examiner, I have firsthand knowledge of how the medical curriculum and assessments are structured, and what skills students need to develop to excel. I use real clinical examples and evidence-based methods to make complex topics in biology, anatomy, and medicine clear, logical, and engaging. My tutoring journey began in medical school, where I started teaching A-Level Biology and Chemistry and mentoring prospective medical students preparing for interviews and entrance exams. Since then, I’ve delivered over 800 hours of private online tutoring, supporting students at GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate level to achieve outstanding results. My familiarity with AQA, OCR, and Edexcel exam boards allows me to design lessons precisely aligned with what students need to succeed. I’m a nerd at heart — I love breaking down challenging concepts and helping students see how everything connects. My teaching focuses on mastering fundamental principles before applying them to complex problems. I believe no question is off limits, and I encourage active learning through questions, discussion, and collaboration. I’m fully invested in my students’ progress and tailor every lesson to their learning style — because I know that everyone learns differently. My students consistently give excellent feedback and go on to excel in exams, medical school interviews, and university assessments.
