About Wells

I love playing and coaching on the court and feel it's the best stress reliever I can find. As I've played and studied tennis over the years I have come to understand that coaching in tennis is often over-complicated.

My coaching philosophy is “Confidence follows competence.” I work with building a solid foundation of footwork and clean mechanics in a very high energy setting in a positive and encouraging atmosphere. I don't just say what to do, I also explain why we do it, so you can coach yourself when you're out on your own playing matches.

I like to help everyone:

Absolute Beginners: People who have never played racket and are looking for a fun, non-judgmental introduction to the game.

Intermediate Players: Players who are on a plateau and wish to build spin, power and tactical aspects into their game.

Cardio Seekers: People who want to lose over 600 calories and to learn a lifelong skill.

Avoid the tedious lectures, hit the court and discover your best game!

About the lesson

The majority of tennis lessons in the traditional style are a boring series of people standing in a line waiting for one ball at a time. We don't do that here. This means that from the very first session you are moving, hitting and playing points—Active, Game-Based Learning is the key to my coaching.

I teach the scientific principles of tennis in natural movements. No jargon, just practical and easy-to-digest changes that will yield fast results.

What a typical session would look like:

Dynamic Warm Up: Tennis specific mobility and footwork patterns.

Skill Focus: One focus per session (e.g. developing a topspin forehand, developing a second serve, positioning)

Gamified Drills: Point play Drills with a twist of high intensity to develop the muscle memory.

Cool Down & Strategy Check: A brief recap of what you got right and an action plan for your next practice.

I can adapt each hour to your level of play, whether it be to play the social game of the weekend, to burn off some calories, or simply to master rallying without running your ball over the fence.
